Time to Climb the Matterhorn!

Literally!

When Cars Land opened up on June 15, 2012, a Disneyland classic was also opening up its queue for visitors once again after a six month refurbishment. And back with the ride were the Matterhorn climbers! They could be seen scaling the mountain throughout the day, and I couldn’t help but stop and watch them for a bit… wishing that I were the one climbing the Matterhorn!

Matty went through a couple major refurbs… most noticeable: the replacement of the old two-to-a-seat (and too close for comfort) sleds. I had the chance to ride in these sleds once with my friend Victoria during my very first trip ever to Disneyland (start at 9:10):

The next time I rode Matterhorn (with Emily and Franze), we opted to go one per seat (start at 18:39):

While I was in the park on June 15, I didn’t get a chance to ride the fresh, new Matty so I can’t tell you what I think of the new set up. Though I will say that word around town is that it is noticeably more cramped inside the sled, especially for the person riding in the very front, but isn’t that to be expected?

The changes needed to be made. Most people were uncomfortable with the old seats and asked for separate seating, which cut the ride capacity immediately in half. This way, they’ll get another person in each sled and hopefully cut down on the overall wait time for the attraction.

I love the Matterhorn so I can’t wait to try it out. If you’ve gotten to ride in the new sleds, leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
